No one loves our Winter religious faith traditions more than your friends at Scandal Sheet. We embrace both Christmas (yes, we insist on keeping ‘Christ’ in Christmas!). And, we also love Hanukah, which this year begins with the current Gregorian calendar of Christmas Day. That’s pretty cool, right? (Doesn’t happen that often.) So cheers everyone! In this comedy teaser we give you a little heads up of our coming episode. Here the Magi - mentioned in scripture - have a little conversation amongst themselves, that the Gospel of Matthew apparently missed. (Matt, no worries, dude. No tape recorders in 0 CE - we get it.) But we have uncovered these lost fragments somehow! – and are sharing with Biblical scholars around the world. But our listeners get this first! Baseball fans throughout the country – but especially in the Mid-Atlantic area – were largely caught by surprise this week when the New York Mets signed player-phenom, JUAN SOTO, to the largest professional sports contract in all history (to date) $765 million over 15 years. Long time guests of this pod and popular NYC baseball prognosticators, THE METS MOB, weigh in on this momentous agreement.

And why did Juan gain 40 pounds in just 2 months?? People want to know this stuff. Granted, the spartan discipline that ball players must endure for 6 months, in season, in diet and endless workouts is very onerous. We can’t blame a guy that was just in the World Series in October for ordering some pizzas and cracking open some Ben and Jerry’s ice cream in the off season. Right? We’d be hypocrites. But can a 26 year old drop that kind of weight in the next 2 months? Guess we’ll see.

The official press conference was held on Thursday, December 12 and we offer an excerpt here. Scandal Sheet’s long-time baseball experts and prognosticators, the METS Mob, were all scheduled to speak on this historic contract on December 13^th. Timing fell apart at the last minute and is re-scheduled for this Sunday, December 15th. Baseball Legend, PETE ROSE, Passes Away At Age 83

Rose's death was reported on September 30. In honor of this amazing, iconic … but also tragically-cursed athlete, we are replaying our episode from 2021 –

“Forgive Pete Rose? Fall Of A Legend” We re-open the case of Pete Rose, one of the greatest baseball players in history. He has several performance records that may never be broken. But to the surprise of all, he was permanently expelled from baseball in 1989 for gambling on the game – an activity millions of Americans do each day. This expulsion makes Rose ineligible for induction into the Hall Of Fame. Add to that the multiple statutory rape charges and tax evasion. Sympathetic heartbreaking figure? – or scum bag? We dive deep into the REAL truth behind his sudden, catastrophic downfall.

“Blazing Saddles” Hits The Big 5–0!

Oh, NO you didn’t! … uhh, yeah, we did. We take on one of the most controversial,  social and movie genre satire films ever made in the Hollywood studio system. 1974’s “Blazing Saddles” is known for its many racial slurs and, almost endless, “socially incorrect” and “un-woke” scenes. But 50 years later, many mainstream media sources are – today - hailing this film as a “pioneering masterpiece of social satire”. Masterpiece? Or, just a steady stream of racist/dick jokes/misogyny/farts/etc.? We’ll give you the info to help you decide for yourself. And, how many people know the movie was written by the ground-breaking black comedian, Richard Pryor? (who almost starred in the film as well).

Though made for a very, very low budget (and it shows), “Blazing Saddles” became the highest box office grossing film of the year, 1974.
