Western culture can’t get enough of its zombie-crack addiction - with a seemingly endless stream of movies, TV series’, video games, merchandise, and graphic novels. Total annual consumer revenue rivals the competing ‘vampire’ genre and is in the $$ billions. How come? We welcome our guest Dylan Cuellar, who has a podcast of his own. In many circles he is acknowledged as an perceptive commentator on literature, movies, and media - and he is still under 30!. We were lucky to grab him for a few minutes to share his unique insights on the zombie phenomena across pop culture and what it represent for us.

Since age 17, Sir Paul McCartney has had an amazing 66 year career in the music industry – and for decades often at the top of the Billboard charts. And even at age 83 today, he is still turning out new music, with a new album out this May. But the creator of dozens of the world’s most cherished rock songs and love ballads has endured a turbulent and sometimes painful life. We dive deep into his rollercoaster existence with very few real-world silly love songs in his post-Beatles life. We are joined by frequent guest, John Hoekstra, professional music composer and producer, for expert commentary. We are inspired by a recent award-winning documentary about Paul’s life after the Beatles, called “Man On the Run” (on Prime). Join us to learn about the Paul McCartney you probably don’t know. Current co-host, Anuradha shares her own unique experiences as a girl scout in the 4^th grade - having legally immigrated with her family to the U.S. from Kenya, only a couple years before. Regular listeners know that Anuradha is ethnically South Asian/Indian and a practicing Hindu. But her religious dietary practices apparently don’t eliminate thin mint cookies :)! As a newcomer to her adopted country, Anuradha tried many social/school activities activates to fit in. What did she think of the Girl Scouts? -- If I told you, it would be a spoiler! A MUST LISTEN! Our 2023 co-host, ELLIE, a Girl Scout from Kindergarten to High School senior, rose to the highest rank in the GSA organization. Now a millennial young woman, Ellie looks back at her decade+ experiences and shares a very CANDID insider view on the 3 mo/year $800 million dollar cookie industrial complex. BTW, WE LOVE AND SUPPORT THE GIRLS! … it’s just some of the adults in the mix whose motives may not be entirely spotless.

They take us take us on a deep dive that you won’t find on Reddit -- or anywhere else. America’s Auschwitz? – Andersonville Prison (1865)

Those of us lucky enough to live in the great USA, prefer to think of ourselves as good and moral people. But are there terrible secrets in our country’s past we prefer not to think of?

Every 5^th grader knows the American Civil War (1861-1865) was the bloodiest military conflict in the USA’s 250 history. But beyond battlefield casualties, the real atrocities that occurred back then often don’t appear in many current history textbooks. Case in point, the ANDERSONVILLE PRISONER OF WAR PRISON – a camp designed for 10,000 prisoners that eventually housed 45,000. In only 14 months 13,000 Union prisoners died of disease, starvation, exposure … or outright torture and murder. Unlike many other conflicts, the American Civil War was not a war against unknown people, 10,000 miles away, that neither side could truly comprehend in any cultural/social way. This war was American vs American, brother against brother, neighbor against neighbor.

No one loves Christmas more than your friends at Scandal Sheet. But that doesn’t mean we can’t explore some obvious historical inconsistencies. Right? For example, why is Christmas celebrated on December 25? Only 2 of the 4 Gospels in the Christian New Testament even discuss the birth of the infant Jesus and NEITHER MENTIONS A DATE. But the Gospels do give us clues that the birthday was more likely in the spring or summer - and NOT winter. So, why 12/25? "Star Trek” Turns 60 – Still Boldly Going?

After a very modest beginning in 1966, the original “Star Trek” TV series was canceled by NBC after only 3 seasons and 79 episodes. But it found new life in syndication and gradually became a cultural phenomenon. It went onto spawn 13 feature length movies between 1979-2016 (new one coming soon). It has also hatched 12 additional TV series (2 still running) that have collectively produced over 900 episodes (and counting). How does a TV show that lasted only half the seasons as one of its 1960’s TV contemporaries, “Mister Ed”, (about a talking horse) become a - still growing - $20 billion dollar franchise?

Anuradha and Thad are joined by returning guest host and “super fan” Jim Maurer to dive deep into the 60-year legacy of “Star Trek”.
